The National Council of State Boards of Nursing (NCSBN) leads the advancement of regulatory excellence in the healthcare industry.
NCSBN was established by state governments over a hundred years ago to protect the public’s health. Focused on overseeing and ensuring the safe practice of nursing, NCSBN establishes the standards for safe nursing care and issues licenses to practice nursing.
In 2006, Azavar introduced NCSBN to Adobe Connect Pro as a system to handle all of their e-Learning ambitions – including both live and on-demand training available through their website.
NCSBN’s First Challenge: Stuck on Integration
After purchasing a suite of Adobe Connect Pro products from Azavar, NCSBN faced a major challenge: integration. In order to fully realize Adobe Connect’s outstanding potential and create a more complete user experience, NCSBN needed a seamless integration with their user portal. But they couldn’t seem to find an Adobe vendor capable of facilitating that integration.
NCSBN approached Azavar with a complex question: How can we integrate Adobe Connect Pro with our online interactive portal?
Azavar’s Solution
In order to determine the best development solution for NCSBN, Azavar needed to understand the intent of their website. Together, we reevaluated the purposes of the website: to educate and train members of NCSBN online.
Through in-depth and targeted consulting, we outlined all the ways that we could streamline the use and administration of their website and create a more robust application suited to their specific needs. Our experts determined the best path to take in order to leverage the many capabilities of Adobe Connect Pro – including pointing out numerous uses NCSBN had not yet considered.
Our solution contained a prioritized list of ways to improve the functionality and maintenance of their website. In short, Azavar uncovered and outlined the numerous ways NCSBN could use integration with Adobe Connect Pro to achieve its e-Learning goals.
NCSBN’s Second Challenge: Making it Happen
Once Azavar revealed new benefits of integration and determined the right steps to take to accomplish that integration, we were faced with an even more daunting task. The actual integration would require working within the same online environment with three other geographically separated vendors – all working on integrating their products into the same NCSBN interactive portal.
1. Since all the other vendors each wrote different pieces of code, Azavar’s main concern was being careful not to negatively impact the work of the other developers.
2. Another pressing challenge Azavar encountered was partnering with NCSBN’s internal development team to keep the integration project moving forward. In addition to working around the code of numerous other website developers, Azavar often had to step in to assist NCSBN’s internal technical team in overcoming integration-threatening obstacles.
Azavar’s Solutions
Azavar’s development team was not intimidated by the technical intricacies of this project and set out to deliver exactly what NCSBN was looking for.
1. Azavar kept its code modular in order to minimize our technical footprint on their customer portal. Through careful organization, Azavar developed a solution that had minimal impact on the development work of all the other vendors – while at the same time facilitating a seamless integration between NCSBN’s portal and Adobe Connect Pro.
2. When NCSBN’s own development team experienced technical challenges, Azavar facilitated online collaboration with them in order to identify and resolve internal errors standing in the way of successful integration deployment.

The integration solution Azavar delivered means that NCSBN and their site members can now get all the benefits of Adobe Connect without having to learn a completely different application. Everyone can interact with an interface they’re already familiar with.
Azavar’s integration solution lets NCSBN’s users:
- Search for or browse Adobe Connect Pro events without leaving their website
- Register for events directly from their website
- View their registration status for Adobe Connect events on their website
- Enter events via dynamic links from the NCSBN website
The integration also streamlined various administrative tasks within NCSBN’s interactive portal. Their internal website administration team can now avoid manually entering event and webinar information – updates happen automatically through the Adobe Connect website. Administrators also get a dynamic list of available Adobe Connect events that they can assign to pages on the NCSBN website.
